Ante

The bet that all players must make before the cards are dealt and the round begins.

All-in

Signifies when players bet all of their chips. Board   Where cards are laid out that all players play from.

Call

The amount players are required to bet to continue to play.

Cold Call

When a player calls one or more bets on his or her turn, it is a cold call. For instance, if another player called and raised the pot before the player makes a second call, it is called a cold call.

Dealer

The player who deals the cards.

Four of a Kind

Quads, or four of a kind, is a hand of four cards of the same value. Four kings of different suits is a four of a kind, for example.

Pair   

Two cards of the same value. For instance, a six of clubs and a six of hearts make a pair of sixes.

Raise   

A player who raises increases the wager by calling for more than the minimum that is required to call.

Royal Flush   

A straight flush where the Ace is high is a Royal Flush. It is considered the best hand to have in standard online pokies real money.

Straight Flush   

This hand consists of five cards in sequence of the same suit.

Tell   

A body movement or sign that a player gives off that tells what is going on with their hand. It is usually inadvertent. Good players know the tell-tale signs for their competition when they are holding a royal flush, one might say.

Three of a Kind

Three of the same value card, such as three threes.

Another term for three of a kind.

Split Pot

I first came across this term while playing on www.cancasinos.ca. This occurs when two or more players have equal winning hands. They split the pot of winnings evenly.

Check

When a player passes from betting, they are checking. Plays from other participants may still affect the player who checks, as in having to call, raise or fold.

Check-Raise

A term for the player who checks but later raises the ante.

Buy-in

A term for tournament poker defining how much it is to buy a seat to participate in the game, or tournament.

Bubble

In a tournament it defines the first player who will not receive an award. For instance, the bubble on the top five awards is spot six.
